Marc Bloch’s Historical Heritage

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the scientific work of the French historian of the Middle Ages Marc Bloch, known as one of the founders of the prestigious French historical Annales School. The historian heritage of M. Bloch, of doubtless creative character, with its wide range of historical exploration and historico-philosophical problems is little known to the Bulgarian scientific communication community. The authoress of the article introduces M.Bloch’s principal writings which reveal original views on the history of feudalism, on extending the subject of historical research the professional mastery of the scholar, his conceptually founded opinions on the historical process, the wealth of his thought and his steadfast faith in the importance of science. The historical heritage is examined of an exceptional personality in European historiography that is striving to change the level of historical quest and reach a new paradigm in historical thinking, of a scholar studying the past in all its aspects and by all the means which can serve history.
