Summary/Abstract: Nikolay N.Chervenkov was one of the eminent Bulgarianists who worked abroad. Born in the Odessa region into the family of Bulgarian immigrants, from his childhood he was brought up with love for his motherland Bulgaria. Having graduated in history at Odessa University, he already in his student years engaged in a thorough study of the links of the Bessarabian Bulgarians with their motherland. N.Chervenkov dedicated all his 25 years of creative activity to the political history of the Bulgarian settlers in Moldavia and Ukraine during the Bulgarian National Revival, and to the questions of the history of the Bulgarian Diaspora. He wrote numerous monographs, articles and studies; he was an active participants in the movement of the Bulgarians in Moldavia and Ukraine for national awakening. N. Chervenkov’s vigorous patriotic and scholarly activity was highly appreciated by the Moldavian Academy of Sciences, the “St. Clement Ohridski” University of Sofa, the “V. Levski” All-Bulgarian Committee and by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences that awarded him the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Honorary Academic Medal.
