Summary/Abstract: This paper addresses some aspects regarding the practice of premarital customs in the villages from Argeș County, during 1880-1950. Most of these ancestral traditions were practiced by girls and boys on the verge of marriage, with the precise purpose of finding a suitable partner. Marital rituals took place during the holidays that marked the end of the year, and varied depending on the specifics of rural communities and the imagination and power of representation of the to be married actors.
