Summary/Abstract: The paper is an attempt to comment Romanian translation of Russian novel, The Day of the Oprichnik, belonging to the contemporary Russian Vladimir Sorokin. Romanian version presents a lot of errors, discussed by the author of this paper on the mainframe of translator’s competences. Because of their multiple errors, translators did not manage to offer to Romanian reader an authorized version of Russian novel.
