Summary/Abstract: This article deals with one of the earliest stages of the formation and development of Bulgarian scientific and technical terminology. Its emergence dates back to the Nation-al Revival period. The author emphasises the exceptional role of Revival teachers and writers, who worked tirelessly and devotedly for the forging, enrichment and development of domestic terminology. The conclusions are drawn on the basis of the in-depth study of a large number of textbooks in various subjects published during the Revival. Current issues in Bulgarian linguistics such as the borrowing of terms, the purity of Bulgarian terminology, the forging of domestic terminology and terminological doublets are also discussed.
