Summary/Abstract: The paper comments on one of the three parts of the lecture course in language competence taught at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy. In particular, it deals with the acquisition of building construction terms and the use of linguistic means characteristic of both the introductory discipline and the architectural style. The author sees harmony between exquisite verbal expression and the intonations of a building and draws a parallel between forging a language and constructing a building – two scenarios of the picture of the architect’s world: a picture of the entire world and a picture of the world as a whole.
