Summary/Abstract: The article seeks to test concepts such as Varieties of Capitalism, constitutional political economy, comparative legal studies and others, in their application to the new Member States of the European Union in Eastern Europe. Taking the labour markets of Bulgaria and Estonia as a sample, the article proposes as findings that the Estonian labour market would more easily accommodate into the legal and political framework of the European Union, whereas the Bulgarian one presents more state supervision and thus, it could be considered as more democratic and more responsive to potential crises.
