Summary/Abstract: In this paper the author wants to highlight the relation between spirituality and spiritualism. He defines spirituality as a search for the meaning of life, a religious experience or supra-religious, a conversion of existence – and spiritualism as a philosophy of consciousness born from Descartes’ reflection on Meditationes metaphysicæ, and on the dualism between body and soul. Spiritualism is the metaphysics that thinks on the relation between mind and body, while spirituality is something incarnate. The author makes the difference between philosophical and religious spirituality and analyzes the relation between spirituality and mysticism, spirituality and wisdom, spirituality and memory, spirituality and soul. The author's conclusion is that the relation between spirituality and spiritualism refers to the fact that, spiritualism is actually a metaphysics that is not satisfied with being a philosophy of spirit but involves a movement of the soul towards God and towards the invisible. Spirituality is a mental atmosphere where religion and philosophy come together in a metaphysical thought.
