Summary/Abstract: “Machines à Bulles” (Bubble Machines), a travelling exhibition of the Institut Français, was realised at multiple locations worldwide, among others at the University of Pécs in 2021. It aimed to display the French production of the cultural variety of the bande dessinée numérique. In our study, we discuss and analyse the case of the Pécs exhibition, which emphasised that digital comics is a transmedia phenomenon, comprising a variety of media, such as websites, applications, virtual reality, video games, and social network platforms. Some of the exhibited works were characterised by medial hybridity, integrating photos, videos, and soundtrack. The digital support opened new perspectives in the narrative aspects of comics as well, making storytelling interactive.
