Summary/Abstract: After World War One, the vanguardism reaches Bulgaria too. In this period the literary life develops at the same time with the aesthetic European transformations, submits to the same rules, trying to escape the guardianship of traditionalism. The Bulgarian vanguardism reflects the social and cultural situation in Bulgaria at that time and totalizes the majority of the revolutionary currents from expressionism and futurism to Dadaism, surrealism, diabolism and imaginism. But the beginnings of the vanguardist movement is linked to expressionism and the name of the poet Geo Milev.
