Summary/Abstract: The paper presents an overview of Russian nobility in its evolution during the 19th century. On its way to modernization, the whole Russian society knows now a deep transformation, including its ruling class. We are dealing not only with the class status, but also with the evolution of daily life, manners, mansions and so on of aristocratic element in classical Russia. This study presents several hypostases of Russian nobility in its leading role in Russian society.
