Summary/Abstract: The hundred and fiftieth anniversary of tire Faculty of Law in Belgrade is an occasion to remember tire teachers who have seved their school and their country. One of them was Milenko R. Vesnić, professor of the Faculty of Law of the High School in Belgrade and a diplomat. His unwearied activity was marked by lectures on various issues in the spheres of law, economy and politics. He was an author and a translator. He translated not only the works of criminal law, but also those of economy, history, international law and general literature. As professor of international law he was searching for such works which were the best for his students and for all other readers needing them. He has done his translations with remarkable speed and expertise and rather soon after the original has been published. Doing this, he had to overcome many difficulties, including new terminology. In fact, this activity of professor Vesnić was not just a simple translation. With the permission of authors, Vesnić has succeeded to amend to quitee a degree some of the tranwslated books. He has made them contemporary and enriched them with his notes and comments, while even introducing new chapters (for instance, the case of De la Nys and Rivier's works). In such a way Serbian readers have acquired even more complete works than those in France. Vesnić's example was not followed frequently, so that his translations from German and French remained unique until our times.
