Summary/Abstract: Syria was separated from the Ottomans after the First World War and entered under the authority of the French mandate. Sectarian differences that fueled during this period caused instability on the basis of power and rule for the country post-independence. The pro-reform public demonstrations that started with the effect of the Arab Spring against the Assad Regime which came to power in the 1970s, turned into a civil war in a short time as a result of the increasing violence and conflicts. The subject of this study is to examine the sect phenomenon in the civil war, which has entered its eleventh year.
