Summary/Abstract: The objective of this research is an attempt to partially survey the influence of the English language on the vocabulary development of two chosen European languages, compare and evaluate the intensity of the adaptive processes on their orthographic, phonetic and morphological level. In attempt to elucidate the variety, with which the Romanian and English languages cope with this massive impact, we have decided to attempt to compare the adaptive mechanisms of the aforementioned languages. At the same time we offer several stimuli connected to the nature and consequences of the functionality of the adaptation of the English loanwords on the contemporary language, while pointing to the problems we encounter in the practical field of its domain. With regards to the seriousness and scale of the outlined topic, the aim of the thesis is not an in-depth comprehensiveness, but an elucidation of its character and consequences.
