Summary/Abstract: The 60-year celebration of the Department of Modern Slavic Languages and Literatures within the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Bucharest was the essential impulse to write this article. Sharing the fate of society, but at the same time following his own path, the Department of Serbian Language and Literature has undergone, during the past six decades within the University of Bucharest, various phases and generally had successful periods in its development. It is worth mentioning the significant contributions of Prof. Mirko Živković, Ph.D., and Prof. Dorin Gămulescu, Ph.D., true ambassadors of the two cultures, the Serbian and Romanian, who have secured, through their energy and work, a privileged place in the history of the Serbian–Romanian relations and the existence of Serbian language and literature courses in Romania.
