Summary/Abstract: Through this article I will limit myself to examining the theatrical productions of the countries of North Africa (Egypt, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia); more marginal theatrical experiences such as Libya will not be discussed. I will highlight the different paths, aspects and perspectives that have marked the Arab-African theater. If the Arab theater, and in particular the North African theater, shows dynamism and creativity, it fights with surprising energy and consistency against many obstacles, censorship and lack of means are undoubtedly the most fearful. Theater is now part of the cultural landscape of most Arab countries and faces contemporary political and social issues with courage.
