Summary/Abstract: The article provides consideration of the legal framework for protection of the unique resource – water in Georgia, as well as the public awareness in this area. Author of the article positively evaluates the fact that Georgia, on its way of independence, has adopted the Law on Water much earlier than Association Agreement was made. Currently the new law is under development that, supposedly, will duly consider the requirements of Association Agreement. The author gives negative evaluation to the fact that quite significant part of the respondents does not properly know water legislation and expresses opinion about necessity of activation of the state authorities’ work.
