Summary/Abstract: The article aims to explore the process of modernisation of public health in Lviv from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century, using the example of the scarlet fever epidemic of 1907‒10. The author examines the functioning of the municipal health service, the impact of anti-epidemic measures on the lives of residents, and the involvement of hygienists in the implementation of municipal policy. The answers to these questions shed light on the public health policy in Lviv and the local hygiene movement.
