Summary/Abstract: This article presents an example of NA, a valuable tool for designing an efficient teacher training program associated with ICT in education. The purpose of a Needs Analysis is to review the teachers' learning needs in the training program, including the professional development of teachers by using advanced ICT tools. The purpose of this NA is to identify the current or perceived digital skills, interests and cognitive attitudes of a number of teachers involved in a project at the national level, named ‘The School, an active member of the Information Society’. This interesting project shows a new potential of technology for innovative and successful teaching approach with the potential to supply teachers with new digital skills for teaching practices. Project mentioned is a national initiative, developed by specialists in the education and IT experts. NA offers important dates for general survey of the project. NA was planned to reveal the following objectives: diagnosing the impediments encountered by teachers, during this complex and continuous integration ICT process; identifying the level to which various subjects could benefit from the advantages of technology; indicating the type of ICT influence on designing the teaching strategies; defining the expectations of teachers with regard to the future teacher training program. Also, the purpose of NA is to determine the value of different Romanian ICT programs. NA has not only an informative purpose, it is a structure of reference for improving other initiatives in the area of teacher training, including curriculum design. Our results show that Internet, wiki pages, and on-line collaborative groups can be useful tools for research, teaching, and communication. Teachers have competence in computer usage, acknowledging the fact that pupils become very familiar with technology.
