The influence of the media on the development of a child's social identity

Summary/Abstract: From the very beginning, the society handed over its rights to parents to raise children in order for them to shape appropriate attitudes in their charges. Raising a child in the primary social unit un til the end of the last century usually took place in direct contact between the child and his parent. For some time now, when the media entered an increasingly larger area of life not only of an adult, but also of a young individual, this process has been disturbed. This influenced the formation of the child's social identity. This article focused on this issue, trying to show, inter alia, As in recent years, on the basis of research, the social identity of an adolescent individual is changing with regard to the use of media by a child.
