Summary/Abstract: In 1869, Mihai Eminescu accepts for the first time that his picture be taken in Czech photographer Jan Tomáš’ studio, from Prague. This portrait becomes the official image of our national poet, unanimously recognized throughout the years. This material recasts some of the less known aspects of Mihai Eminescu’s life, for example the circumstances of his and his parents’ visit to the capital of Bohemia, the poet’s endeavours during his first attempt to become a student.
