Summary/Abstract: Competitiveness evaluates and compares all human activities. At this time it is very important to think not only about the best ways to resume economic growth, but also about how to build a more competitive economy with improved solutions for both people and society. For the period 2021-2027, the European Commission is helping Member States to build sustainable economies, guiding public and private business on what needs to be done to accelerate the double climate and digital transition, supporting economic recovery and growth. As regards competitiveness, the EC financially supports in particular reforms aimed at strengthening the SME sector, reducing market barriers, facilitating intra- and extra-EU investment and trade, developing the digital economy, stimulating research and innovation, managing public-private partnerships and improving the governance of public enterprises. According to the World Economic Forum, putting these priorities into practice means reinvigorating and transforming the enabling environment, human capital, markets and the innovation ecosystem. Competitiveness, a vital requirement for the EU, requires full commitment from Member States whose goal can only be to develop the most dynamic economy in the world.
