Summary/Abstract: For the national railways administration, the Unification from December 1st 1918 didn't marked only the fulfilment of a long awaited dream... but also the begin of a long and complicated process meant to led to the complete integration in the national railways network of the lines from the provinces located “over the Carpathians”. Few weeks after the Unification, the “Commandment of the Occupied Lines” – the first Romanian structure meant to organise the railway traffic in Transylvania. Afterwards, the exploiting of the whole Romanian Railway Network was taken over by 4 Regional Directions located in Bucharest, Cluj, Iaşi and Arad. All this structure changed once the Romanian army was obliged to respond to the sudden attack of the Hungarian troops placed under the authority of the Government led by Béla Kun. Thus, between May and September 1919, the railway activity on the lines located in Transylvania was supervised by several temporary authorities which were later integrated in the structure of III Regional Railways Direction in Cluj. The complete unification of the railway network in Romania finally took place on September 21st 1920, when all the lines from Banat and Transylvania that were formerly exploited by the Hungarian State Railways Company passed into the propriety of the Romanian state and were mentioned in the Land Register from Cluj.
