Summary/Abstract: This corpus-based survey presents the grammatical roles that the names for COVID-19 occupy in the valence frames of the respective predicates. A contemporary corpus of Bulgarian parliamentary speech was used from which the contexts of these names were extracted with the help of a concordancer. Only metaphorical usages are considered in the paper. Two profiles of valence frames are presented: a syntactic one, which takes into account the classification of arguments according to Pustejovsky (1995), and a lexical-semantic one, which considers the classification of predicates according to the lexicographic classes adopted in the lexical network Wordnet.
