Summary/Abstract: School principals are an integral part of a child's education. Their job is not only to manage the day-to-day affairs of a school, but also to be an instructional leader. Much research has been done to identify the characteristics of effective school leaders and how these leaders transform their schools into effective learning spaces. Instructional leaders are interpersonally intelligent, professional, and accountable. At school, leaders bring their own unique blends to work and constantly reflect on the day's events to encourage lifelong learning. School principals are people who are heard in daily announcements, who roam the corridors during class hours, and who must respond to students when discipline is required. The role of the school principal is changing and evolving in the educational environment. As a result, much time and research has been devoted to examining effective school principals and their impact on student learning and success. Teacher expectations are the first predictor of student success. However, the principal as an instructional leader is associated with improving student achievement (Grissom, Loeb, & Master, 2013). Effective principals are instructional leaders who demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and professionalism. These leaders are reflective learners who hold themselves and their employees accountable while creating a safe and welcoming environment. The above factors, when combined, create a high-powered learning environment essential to the success of a school leader.
