Summary/Abstract: The article will follow NATO’s approach and reaction to China’s emergence as a contender in the “post liberal order”, focusing on a specific issue: “Could China’s assertiveness be classified as a prospective threat for NATO”. The starting point of the analysis is the 2019 London Summit, also taking into account past key documents, declarations, moments or events, relevant for the proposed topic, such as Arctic policies, Belt and Road initiatives around Europe, China’s actions to penetrate the European geopolitical area, etc. China’s rise as a military power and its economic strength (before the COVID-19 pandemic) have constantly expanded throughout NATO’s spheres of interest, making its presence felt at its borders, and sometimes even lurking around in its own garden.
