Summary/Abstract: One of the most important moments in the reestablishment of the Diocese of Vad, Feleac and Cluj was represented by the investment, on the 8th of December 1921, of its first bishop, Nicolae Ivan. At Bucharest, in the Throne Room, King Ferdinand I of Romania, within a festive ceremony, handed him over the crosier, thus strengthening and publicly confirming the new quality of the man who, four centuries later, revived the old eparchies of Vad and Feleac. The importance of this accomplishment, which had already been planned since the days of Metropolitan Andrei Şaguna, was clearly reflected in the speeches of the two main „actors”, as the King was convinced that Nicolae Ivan would skillfully rule the Diocese, and His Majesty’s expectations were carried out successfully as it later turned out. Reminding us of the Byzantine Symphony, the investment ceremony of the hierarch from Cluj confirmed the realities of those years: the Church and the Monarchy were two of the most important and relevant institutions in Great Romania.
