Examining the Effect of Sectoral Natural Gas Consumption on Turkey’s GDP Development

Summary/Abstract: Studies on the existence and direction of the relationship between energy and economic growth have increased in recent years. In particular, the correct use of energy is important in terms of ensuring energy security by evaluating limited energy resources in the right areas. This study, on the other hand, gives the theoretical information in the literature on energy and, in particular, natural gas, and examines the effect of natural gas consumption of sectors on economic growth in terms of Turkey. When the relationship between the natural gas consumption of the industrial sector and the housing and services sector between 1987 and 2019 and the GDP development between the same dates is analyzed in a graphic environment, a consistent trend is observed between the natural gas consumption of the sectors and the GDP.
