Summary/Abstract: The theory of architecture has developed an atypical moral discourse, marked by the identity between ethics and aesthetics. As evidence of its atypical character, theorists use expressions such as “ethics of statics,” “ethics of motion,” structural truth, or truth to materials. These uses of moral terms can be described as peculiar. We usually consider that morality is about the principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong behavior. Yet, in the specific case of architecture, the aesthetic qualities of buildings acquire moral relevance, truthful forms are also moral, and aesthetic truth becomes ethical truth.
