Summary/Abstract: The most outstanding examples of the early Ptolemaic rulers’ building activity at Karnak are the monumental propylons, erected in front of different temples (Mut, Khonsu, Montu), which can be considered the primary vehicles of the local theological doctrine. On the pylon gate of the precinct of Montu at North Karnak, a hymn, dedicated to the deity, can be observed which has received little attention so far. Earlier publications of the propylon translated the text with only a few comments that need to be corrected in several places. The present study aims at republishing the hymn as well as providing a detailed commentary. Furthermore, the taurine aspect of Montu, appearing in the text, will be presented in the context of the local theological tradition.
