DIN ACTIVITATEA LUI CONSTANTIN MOISIL LA ARHIVELE STATULUI BUCUREŞTI. REALIZAREA BUSTURILOR LUI BOGDAN PETRICEICU HAŞDEU ŞI DIMITRIE ONCIUL (1924–1927)
FROM THE ACTIVITY OF CONSTANTIN MOISIL AT THE STATE ARCHIVES. THE ERECTION OF THE BUSTS OF BOGDAN PETRICEICU HAŞDEU AND DIMITRIE ONCIUL (1923-1927)

Summary/Abstract: During the period when Constantin Moisil from Năsăud (1876–1958) was the head of the General Directorate of the State Archives of Romania (Bucharest) (1923–1938) a fundraising campaign was organized at his initiative for the erection of the busts of historians Bogdan Petriceicu Haşdeu and Dimitrie Onciul, former general directors of the institution. The bronze busts created by the sculptor Mihai Onofrei and unveiled on November 10, 1927, were placed in the park next to the Archives Building, located at that time inside the monastic complex Mihai Vodă. The Border Guard Museum from Năsăud (Muzeul Grăniceresc Năsăudean) holds numerous documents concerning the erection of the two busts, starting with the first meeting of the “Initiative Committee” and continuing with the sending of the subscription lists, the recording and the evidence of the funds donated, the spending of money etc. Reproduced in these pages, they were donated to the Năsăud Museum in 1980 by Victoria Moisil, the wife of one of Constantin Moisil’s sons, the mathematician and academician Grigore Moisil (1906–1973).
