Summary/Abstract: The paper is about understanding different generational perspectives on cooperatives in a country that has passed from communism to capitalism. The aim of this paper is to capture how different generations are currently perceiving the cooperatives considering their historical background. The work is based on a projective study by using the technique of free association of different keywords to the cooperative or non-cooperative area by the respondents, followed by group discussions. The results of the study reveal that the new generations are opened to integrate cooperatives into their life if they appropriately act as hybrid organizations by prioritizing their social purpose. Moreover, the paper emphasizes on the dimensions of “hybridity”, “agriculture” and “proximity” as the main pillars that could support the development of cooperatives in a capitalist marketplace that is ready to overcome the past experiences coming from the communism.
