Summary/Abstract: In the present paper I tried to clarify a misunderstanding about the figure of professor Irina Mavrodin, a mistake that I made, namely the association of the literary critic and theoretician with the only female character from the only book that Gide considers “a novel” –“The Counterfeiters” – namely Mrs. Sophroniska. I will equally refer, briefly, to the collective volume dedicated to Professor Irina Mavrodin, coordinated by Gabriel Popescu, “Opera ca proiect”. Studies in memory of Irina Mavrodin.
