Summary/Abstract: This paper attempts to introduce the typical scenario of Gide's creation process, that in which, via the psychoanalytical phenomenon of transference, the author allows himself to live again a traumatic past that denies being forgotten or dealt with, that haunts the author, in order to mark two irreconcilable imperatives. On the one hand, there is an imperative to abandon the contingent (the alter-ego, Walter, is absorbed, lost in his mirror reflexion, Allain, who personifies Walter's moral, ethical pressure), similar to the famous creative impersonation that Maurice Blanchot speaks about, and on the other hand, there is a constant effort to recover forbidden, rebellious desire, through writing.
