Summary/Abstract: In Romania, the interest for the Chinese language and culture within the civil society is considerable. In order to meet this demand, the institutional efforts made by specialists at the level of schools and universities down to the language teaching centres of other cultural institutes is combined with the activity of cultural mediators. In this paper I will try to present the versatile role of the cultural mediators, as engaged in the dissemination of the Chinese language and culture in the broader context of literary translations and the whole cultural phenomenon brought about by the dialogue with China.
