Summary/Abstract: Conflicts, as a constituent part of romantic relationships, can represent an occasion either for strengthening ties or for breaking up. Understanding, assessing, and even anticipating the role of conflicts, depending on the dominant attachment pattern of some person, is what Attachment Theory really offers. We attempted to identify the attachment patterns, based on the sample of 60 adults, and to determine their correlation with constructiveness in solving conflicts in a romantic relationship and with relationship satisfaction. Instruments: Adult Attachment Interview (Main, Kaplan, Cassidy, 1985), Questionnaire for Constructiveness Dimension Assessment in Conflict Solving and Relationship Satisfaction (Nedeljković, Stanojević, 2007). The results obtained show statistically significant correlations, especially with respect to the role of sex as an important predictor of both pattern affiliation and conflict understanding.
