Summary/Abstract: The author presents some data about the Bukovinian volunteers in Romania of the First World War: Ion Grămadă, Lascar Luția, Teodor Turturean, Dumitru Mihalaş, Vasile Popescu, Iustin Breabăn. References are also made to various activities, articles in the press of the time or public gatherings during the interwar period (such as the one in 1926 in Suceava), aimed at commemorating those who lost their lives in the First World War. The homage of those who sacrificed themselves in order to fulfil an ideal was a specific phenomenon for Bukovina, as well as for Romania during the interwar period. More and more interesting data on this subject should be found in the internal documents of the Union of Former Volunteers – Bucovina Regional Branch. Identification, recovery from the archives of Chernivtsi, Cluj – where the headquarters of the Union was located – or elsewhere, and their exploitation remains the task of future researchers, passionate about keeping alive the memory of a decisive moment in the history of the nation and of those who have accomplished it.
