Summary/Abstract: The article contains the analysis of Church history in the historical texts of Wincenty Zakrzewski (1844–1918). In his considerations, the historian of the sixteenth century places a heavy focus on the role of Polish clergy in the Polish past. The field of his scientific interests also concerns the relations between Poland and the Holy See. The views of Wincenty Zakrzewski are presented against the background of contemporary historical thought.
