Summary/Abstract: The process of socialization, regardless of the adopted vision of social rehabilitation, is always embedded in the social and environmental context, because it performs the function of human participation in social life, especially in the local community. The analysis of the system for dealing with minors shows that the implementation of the procedures provided for in the Act on Proceedings in the Juvenile Cases taking into account the social context of its functioning leads to the modification of the currently dominant caring model in favor of the responsible model. It’s feature is engaging social forces and focus in activities on educating the minor to responsibility. It takes place not so much in the structures of the judiciary as in local networks of social participation, where the observation of the minor’s behavior and early diagnosis indicating a risk of social maladjustment, as well as the symptoms of behavior disorders allow to initiate preventive measures at a nearly stage. One of the entities legally authorized to implement educational and preventive work are educational institutions.
