Summary/Abstract: The theme of glorifying the Name of God through the life of the Christian, of the Christian in the Church, is a favorite and dear St. John Chrysostom. While it is not possible for one who loves vain glory to live a crucified life, the love that God has for His children is the source of true glory. His glory is above the heavens, and participation in the future glory is the goal of all life. Angels glorify God not only because of their pure nature, but also because of the good deeds of the people by whom they exercise their function, perfectly fulfilling God’s will and commandments. Like the Old Testament Patriarchs, we should be completely detached from many earthly things and hope for the glory of heaven. Our salvation glorifies Him because our salvation is His greatest gift, the gift of God Himself. Brotherly love and merciful love are only the liturgical reality of the human being, in which the care and mission for the mystery of the poor brother is inscribed in the very heart of the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. Another specific chrysostomic theme is the fulfillment of God’s will by men in agreement with angels, and angels in agreement with men.
