Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article it to trace back the story of identity changes and the ensuing political choices of Fajga-Felicja Danielak / Helena Wolińska-Brus „Lena” (1919-2008) member of the People’s Guard (Gwardia Ludowa) WWII underground organization, a Stalinist-era prosecutor, a doctor of law, wife of the economist Włodzimierz Brus, wanted by the judiciary system of the Polish 3rd Republic. The chief source materials are the unpublished recollections of Helena Wolińska (private tape from 1991), along with her party biograms and Wolińska’s retrospective war reports written between 1944 and 1962, kept at the Central Archives of Modern Records, the Jewish Historical Institute and the Yad Vashem archives, confronted with 56 volumes records of an investigation of the Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation from the years 1997-2009.
