Summary/Abstract: The content of the study is mainly focused on determining the changes taking place in society under the influence of technological development. The first part of the article provides an overview of the different types of societies and the characteristics of each of them. The next part of the study presents the role of education in the changing social situation. The last part indicates the direction of changes in the context of using information and communication technologies in higher education teaching.
