Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to look at the history of Silesian primary source publications as a continuous historiographic process. The main purpose is the analysis of the particular works from the first publications in the eighteenth century to the most famous projects of the second half of the twentieth century. The focal hypothesis is that the selection and preparation of documents for publication were, on the one hand, closely connected to the general historical and historiosophic view of the region, and on the other, these documents themselves clearly influenced the way Polish and German historians perceived the region.
