Summary/Abstract: The text deals with the history of Polish historiography at home and in exile, looked at through the prism of the co-existence of various, often competing with each other, lines, methods, research environments, political groups, etc., defined as ‘historical schools’. In the author’s opinion, the most representative for the partition period are the Adam Naruszewicz’s School (called in Polish: naruszewiczowska), Joachim Lelewel’s School (lelewelowska), Kraków School, and Warsaw School.
