Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the role of quotations as a tool to measure the impact of humanism on the example of letters of Piotr Wolfram – a Polish lawyer educated in Italy, participant of the Council of Constance, and ambitious official of the curia. Wolfram’s borrowings from Petrarch, Cicero, Quintilian, and Ovid have been analysed and it has been indicated for the last three that they did not have to be borrowed directly from their authors’ writings but could have been taken from medieval anthologies.
