Summary/Abstract: The idea for this kind of workshop on “Roman Pottery in the Near East” was voiced initially at the Conference on Archaeology and Archaeometry in Parma and Pisa in 2008, where we participated in the section on Late Roman coarse wares, cooking wares and amphorae in the Mediterranean. The conference venues were gorgeous, as was the hospitality of our Italian hosts and colleagues.
