Summary/Abstract: It is hard to find exemplary and influential local research among the impressive number of studies on social-economy history for the communist regime in Bulgaria over the last three decades. Big percentage of Bulgarians still remember the period between 1944 and 1989 with nostalgy and spread their wrong opinions to the next generations, without acknowledging the multitude scientific contributions showing the low efficient economy and life standard.Possible way for that period to be reconsidered in general to discover the local economy processes and phenomena because each person is deeper interested in the past of its own settlement or region. In this paper are commented the main authors and attitudes about the Plovdiv development during the Communist regime as well as some data and figures proving that although several positive achievements, the local economy was directed the wrong way and eventually collapsed. However, these processes have their own logic in many cases distinguished from the general one. They should be researched and known because each new detail clears the common panorama and derives useful questions to be research.
