Summary/Abstract: Grăjdeni Village – surrounded from ancient times by forests – was a favorable resting place for people and the carts coming from Galaţi and going to Bârlad and Iaşi. Therefore, the name of the village is taken from the stables that were in the area of that time, the locality having the role of an post chaise, located near the Bârlad fair. Besides, it seems like the future ruler of Moldavia, Petru Rareş, would be halted here with his fish carts, for which would be founded at Grăjdeni the „St. Nicholas” wooden hermitage (burned by Tartars and then rebuilt from stone).
