Summary/Abstract: According to the law 5213 from October 29, 1944, The Social Works League replaced the old Council of Patronage of the Social Works which was set up in 1942 along the Chairmanship of the council of ministers and which in 1944 was subordinated to the Department of Labour, Health and Social Protection. The mission of the Patronage Committees from every county, town or village was to help with money, food and clothes either poor people or the families of those who were called to arms as well as widows and orphans of war.
