Summary/Abstract: The period between 1916 and 1918 was the most important stage of Iorga’s political activity. At the beginning of the war, the historian and the politician followed the policy of the the liberal government led by Ion I. C. Bratianu as a reliable guarantee for national unity. Consecrating his entire life to the Roumanians fight for national unity, N. Iorga suspended the activity of the Democratic Nationalist Party putting in jeopardy his future political career. He believed in the victory of the Romanian’s cause victory even when it seemed impossible to achieve it. His parliamentary activity was completed with a scientific and journalist work. “Neamul Românesc” was the most read newspaper during the war. N. Iorga published works of national and universal history in English, French, Italian and Russian and has supported the idea of Romanian unity in front of western allies.
